چکیده
Recently a correspondence between non-propagating degrees of freedom in maximal supergravity and the very extended algebra E11 has been found. We perform a similar analysis for a supergravity theory with eight supercharges and very extended G2. In particular, in the context of d = 5 minimal supergravity, we study whether supersymmetry can be realised on higher-rank tensors with no propagating degrees of freedom. We find that in this case the very extended algebra fails to capture these possibilities.

متن کاملKac–Moody Spectrum of (Half–)Maximal Supergravities
We establish the correspondence between, on one side, the possible gaugings and massive deformations of half–maximal supergravity coupled to vector multiplets and, on the other side, certain generators of the associated very extended Kac–Moody algebras. The difference between generators associated to gaugings and to massive deformations is pointed out. Furthermore, we argue that another set of ...
متن کاملExtended Symmetries in Supergravity: the Semi-simple Case
The bosonic sector of various supergravity theories reduces to a homogeneous space G/H in three dimensions. The corresponding algebras g are simple for (half-)maximal supergravity, but can be semi-simple for other theories. We extend the existing literature on the Kac–Moody extensions of simple Lie algebras to the semi-simple case. Furthermore, we argue that for N = 2 supergravity the simple al...
متن کاملEvidence for Winding States in Noncommutative Quantum Field Theory
We study noncommutative field theories at finite temperature to learn more about the degrees of freedom in the non-planar sector of these systems. We find evidence for winding states. At temperatures for which the thermal wavelength is smaller than the noncommutativity scale, there is a drastic reduction of the degrees of freedom in the non-planar sector. In this regime, the non-planar sector h...
متن کاملMaximally supersymmetric G-backgrounds of IIB supergravity
We classify the geometry of all supersymmetric IIB backgrounds which admit the maximal number of G-invariant Killing spinors. For compact stability subgroups G = G2, SU(3) and SU(2), the spacetime is locally isometric to a product Xn × Y10−n with n = 3, 4, 6, where Xn is a maximally supersymmetric solution of a n-dimensional supergravity theory and Y10−n is a Riemannian manifold with holonomy G...
